Body Of Benchers Tasks New Wigs On Professional Conduct

The chairman, Body of Benchers BOB, Justice Mary Odili has called on lawyers to abide by the ethics of the profession to sustain the rule of law in the country.

Justice Mary Odili gave the advice at the call to Bar ceremony of one thousand ninety seven successful candidates of the 2023 Bar final examination and Twelve candidates from the previous Bar final examination.

The Chairman however urged the new wigs to acquaint themselves with the stipulated rules of the professional at all times to enhance justice delivery.

She stressed that the Body of Benchers having the power to admit them to the profession also have the statutory powers through its Disciplinary Committee to punish anyone who breached the rules of the profession.

Earlier, the Director General, Nigerian Law School Prof. Isa Hayyatu Chiroma who congratulated the new wigs for their hard work and dedication also enjoined them to desist from any act capable of tarnishing the image of the noble profession for nation building.

He added that the Nigerian Law School, under his watch has witnessed significant transformation in the areas of Academics, Administration and infrastructural development.

The Director General, however stressed that they will continue to work tirelessly to remain the gate keepers of the noble profession to uphold the standard and integrity of the Bar

In an interview with newsmen after the session one of the new wigs, Adanna Ehieze Akanwa promised to use the noble profession to make a remarkable achievement especially in the areas of human violations by rendering Probono Publico Services (Free service) especially to the less privileged in the society.

Parents, Guardians and other well meaning Nigerian’s at the 2023 call to Bar Ceremony also appreciated the Nigerian Law School, Body of Benchers and other key players for making the ceremony a reality.
