The Nigerian National League, NNL, has mandated all clubs participating in the 2023/2024 season to conduct three(3) compulsory pre-competition medical tests for their players and officials ahead of the Saturday 28 October Kick off date.

This information was passed through the NNL Media and Communications department on Tuesday to all forty (40) clubs to be involved in the new league season.

Requirement for the clubs are to run one Pre-competition Medical Assessment (PCMA) test to ensure their players and officials are safe to participate in any form of physical activity.
While the second test is an electrocardiogram (ECG) test diagnosing the heart’s conditions and electrical activity, as the third test will be a Covid-19 test for Covid related cases.
The chief Operating Officer of the league Emmanuel Adesanya said the clubs are to submit an official report which must be endorsed by qualified medical Doctors or from notable medical centers.
Adesanya also emphasized reasons behind the development by the NNL;
“We attach huge importance to the life of each player and official,that is why the medical conditions must be adhered to…
Clubs who fail to comply risks disqualification from the league even though the fixtures have been drawn
“We urge all the clubs to do this needful and simple task before our kick off, they all have been notified on the very importance of this development”
These medical tests are prerequisites to obtain clean medical clearance for the players and officials to feature in the league matches.
