Economy: Shettima Expresses Readiness To Strengthen Ties With China

Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has expressed readiness to strengthen bilateral ties with the People’s Republic of China to deepen economic cooperation between both countries.

Senator Shettima made this known at the Mid Autumn Festival and Chinese National Day Celebration in Lagos state.

Represented by the Minister of State, Ministry of Steel Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, Shettima said the collaboration would expand trade opportunities and explore new avenues for investment and technological cooperation.

“The Federal Government in its efforts to actualise the Administration’s 8-Point Agenda of Renewed Hope, has pledged its commitment to strengthen bilateral relations with the People’s Republic of China for deepen economic cooperation that will be mutually beneficial to both countries” he added.

The Vice President explained that the partnership will also bring greater socio-economic benefits to both nations.

Senator Shettima emphasized that the cooperation will focus on climate change, improved infrastructure development, ease of business conditions that will open more opportunities in Steel Development, Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Technology as well as Communication.

The Vice President pledged Government’s readiness to ensure responsible business practices in the country for long-term success.

On his part, the Commercial Consul of the Chinese Consulate, Mr. Guo Pengwen noted that the exchange of goods and services has diversified Nigeria’s export base and strengthened overall economic stability in various sectors such as infrastructure development, telecommunications, agriculture, energy, manufacturing, and transportation.

Mr. Pengwen explained that these projects have not only improved Nigeria’s transport network but also created employment opportunities and enhanced connectivity within the country.
