By Mathew Ayoola

The Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, has tasked its newly promoted officers on effective security of lives and property in the country.

The Commander General of VGN, Dr. Usman Mohammed Jahun gave the charge during the Annual General Meeting of the Group in Abuja.

Dr. Jahun said the meeting was to review the activities of VGN for the past one year and strategize on how to further compliment the efforts of formal security agencies in safeguarding Nigerians in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s led administration.

The Commander General who stated that about thirty officers were promoted explained that the Organization was being repositioned towards enhancing the performance of the Group.

According to him, the Organisation has over the past one year supported Government at all levels across the country most especially in the Northern region in combating kidnapping, banditry, boko haram, terrorism and other crimes hindering national development.

While describing security as everybody’s business, Dr Jahun called for effective public-private sector collaboration towards overcoming the nation’s Security challenges.

Dr. Jahun used the meeting to call for constitutional recognition of VGN to further give the organization legal backing and improve its performance.

He also solicited the support of State and Local Governments on logistics and welfare package for its officers and men to further encourage them in their activities.

Some of the promoted officers commended the visionary leadership of the Commander General, Dr. Usman Mohammed Jahun.

They therefore promised to reciprocate the gesture through commitment to the realization of the objectives of VGN.
