Women’s world 100m hurdles record holder Tobi Amusan has emerged winner of the Diamond League trophy for a third consecutive time at the Prefontaine Classic, Hayward Field, Oregon, USA.
Amusan, on Sunday night in Eugene, Oregon, finished first with a time of 12.33s to emerge winner of the keenly contested 100m hurdles event.
This comes after a disappointing outing in the final of the world athletics championship in Budapest, Hungary.
On the heels of the feat,
Amusan makes history as the second woman in Diamond League history after Dawn Nelson-Harper to win a hat-trick of 100m hurdles titles.
Completing the podium stand where Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico in second with 12.38s and Keni Harrison of the USA finishing third with a time of 12.44s.
While current World champion Danielle Williams of Jamaica finished fourth in 12.47s.
The Nigerian athlete said the race was hers to lose and she had to give it 200 or nothing, because with 100 %, she wouldn’t have won.
Amusan who broke the Women’s world 100m hurdles record at the 2022 World Championship in Eugene with a 12.12s, said it is her track and God did it for her.
She bounces back to winning ways after being provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for whereabouts failures.
