FCT Minister Swears -in Mandate Secretaries, Harps On Synergy

To actively hit the ground running with the task of carrying out effective administrative duties ,the Federal Capital Territory Administration has sworn in Mandate Secretaries to pilot the affairs of the Secretariats.

At the swearing in ceremony in Abuja, the Minister of FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike charged the Mandate Secretaries to work together towards transforming Abuja into a world class city in their various jurisdictions.

Wike emphasized the need for them to brace up to the task ahead in line with the renewed hope agenda of Mr President to translate the vision into a tangible action that would transform the territory.

To achieve this, the FCT Minister said certain grey areas such as the development of satellite towns, improved public transportation, quality health care delivery, security of lives and property, education and environmental sanitation must be given the needed attention.

The FCT Minister also stressed the need to tackle issues affecting effective service delivery towards ensuring transparency and accountability, particularly in the procurement processes.

“Transparency, efficiency, and accountability must become the cornerstones of our administration.As mandate secretaries, your role in this journey of transformation is pivotal. You are not only advisors but also leaders and implementers of our policies.

You have a duty to translate our vision into tangible actions that will shape the future of the FCT, Our President has entrusted us with the monumental task of rebuilding and developing the FCT into a world-class city.” Wike said.

He further tasked the newly sworn-in FCT Transportation Secretary to inject the needed strength in bringing in the needed innovation that would lead to the establishment of an integrated and efficient transport network that meets the yearnings of residents.

“In addition to these, we will place significant emphasis on the social sector. There is a pressing need to uplift our education, agriculture, and health sectors to world-class standards”.

Earlier, the Mandate Secretaries while taking their oath of allegiance, pledged to carry out their functions devoid of any form of corrupt practices.

The Mandate Secretaries : are Mr Bitrus Garki, Mandate Secretary, Area Council Services Secretariat, Mr Lawan Geidam, Secretary, Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat and Mr Danlami Ihayyo, Secretary, Education Secretariat while Dr Adedolapo Fasawe, is the Secretary, Health and Environment Services Secretariat.

Others are Mr Salman Dako, Secretary, Legal Services Secretariat, Mr Chinedum Elechi, Secretary, Economic Planning, Revenue Generation and Public Private Partnership, while Mr Uboku Nyah was sworn -in as Secretary, Transportation Secretariat.
