Tribunal Commences Judgment Of Obi’s Petition

todaySeptember 6, 2023

Background

Few minutes after it dismissed the petition of the Allied People’s Movement, APM, for being incompetent and lacking in merit, the tribunal has commenced judgment in the petition filed by Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).

Obi, like Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is seeking the nullification of the February 25 election that produced Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as President.

Obi in his petition is alleging irregularities and substantial non-compliance with electoral laws.

Besides, Obi who claimed to have scored majority of the lawful votes cast at the polls accused the electoral umpire of manipulating the process to favour Tinubu.

However, the five man panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, had on August 1, adjourned for Judgment after taking final submissions from all parties in the suit.
