PBAT, AU To Decide On Gabon Coup Plotters

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is consulting with the African Union (AU) to decide the next course of action about the coup in Gabon.

The President’s decision follows the announcement of the Gabon Military officers to have seized power from President Ali Bongo Ondimba, whose family has controlled the country for half a century.

President Bongo was declared to have been re-elected for the third term in a disputed election on August 26, 2023.

The special adviser to the President on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale in a statement on Wednesday says the President is working very closely and continues to communicate with other Heads of State in the African Union towards a comprehensive consensus on the next steps forward concerning how the power in Gabon will play out and how the continent will respond to contagious autocracy bedeviling the continent.
