The National University Commission, NUC, has given approval for the establishment of Kogi State University in Kabba.
At the occasion in Abuja, the Executive Secretary NUC, Prof Abubakar Rasheed who reiterated the commitment of the commission in advancing the course of education in the country, urged the state government to ensure judicious implementation of the statutory mandate establishing the new institution.
Prof Rasheed assured them of maximum support from NUC and encouraged them to always approach the Commission for guidance and advice aimed at adding value to the educational system.

“We are always available to guide you through the process of establishment and running of the University so that you can escape our sanctions. It’s advisable that you take advantage of the expertise in NUC to distinguish the University for local and global recognition.”
He added that JAMB, TETFUND and NYSC would be communicated of the new addition to do the needful in their schedule.
On his part, the Executive governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello while commending NUC for the support and guidance that led to the establishment of two state universities in the during his administration, pledged the commitment of the state government in providing adequate resources needed for full operation of the new university.
“Am happy to fulfil the desire of the fathers of Kogi State and by extension, the Okun people of the state, to have a university in their area that will help in providing quality education and training for the Okun people, and by extension, Kogi State“.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of documents containing academic briefs, the university law, master plan and other relevant information by the governor to the NUC management.
Kogi State University, Kabba is the 3rd State University in Kogi State and 62nd State University in the country as well the 265th among universities in Nigeria.
