The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi has appointed Ahmed Abodunrin as the new Commander of the National Safe Schools Response Coordination Centre (NSSRCC).

He takes over from Tersoo Shaapera who has been redeployed.

A statement by the Corp’s Public Relations Officer Babawale Afolabi states that NSCDC as a lead agency in the protection of critical national assets and Infrastructure is saddled with the implementation of the safe Schools project.

The statement says NSSRCC was created to enhance the security of schools and host communities as well as coordinate security agencies and other critical stakeholders by receiving and referring complaints.

According to the statement, the Centre has been able to avert many attacks on schools in the country especially in the North and South-East through coordination with relevant stakeholders and security agencies.

It states that the Centre also has surveillance personnel in schools and host communities at different locations especially in places believed to be prone to attacks.
