The leadership of the organised labour says it will continue to partner government and other relevant stakeholders to provide affordable housing to its members.
NLC President, Ayuba Wabba and his TUC counterpart, Bobboi Kaigama stated this in Lokoja during the ground breaking on National Housing Delivery Programme for Nigerian workers.
Wabba noted that adequate shelter for the workforce would positively impact on productivity urging government to put welfare of workers on the front burner.
Kaigama on his part stressed that government alone could not breach the housing deficit in Nigeria, hence there was need for greater synergy between all stakeholders.
Managing Director and Chief Executive of Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa said Kogi was piloting the first phase of the project and commended the state government for providing land for the one hundred units housing project.
Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello while promising to provide basic amenities in the area, assured workers that the issue of unpaid workers salaries would be a thing of the past.
The National Affordable Housing Delivery Programme for Nigerian Workers was initiated in conjunction with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, the Trade Union Congress, TUC and the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, NECA.
