Mass Housing: AGF Calls For Collaboration Between Govt, Private Sector

The Accountant General of the Federation, Mallam Idris Ahmed has called for more collaboration from government institutions and private sector to prioritize mass housing at an affordable rate.

He made the call at the Fourth Nigeria Affordable Housing Finance and Innovation Summit, NAHFIS in Abuja.

Represented by the Deputy Director Physical Account, Mr. Jones Abalaka, the Accountant General said the stakeholders collaboration became necessary for all players to think out side the box to address the housing deficit in the country.

The convener of the summit a retired Permanent Secretary in office of the Head of Service of the Federation Mr. Yemi Adelakun explained that the summit was organised to promote social impact investment and technology driven as well as cost effective construction of quality houses.

According to Mr. Adelakun, NAHFIS EXPO is an annual event promoting financial, digital and technological innovations for large scale delivery of affordable housing in Nigeria. The event also promotes development of cooperative housing as a vehicle for income ownership.”

He further stressed that “during this summit we hope to explore and establish integrated strategy for large scale delivery of affordable housing. Presentation and discussion will focus on Electronic Payment Solutions for Housing, 4P Equity Housing Fund, Digitisation of housing cooperatives, Sustainable Housing Finance Model. The summit also presents the opportunity to network for collaboration and partnership among stakeholders.”

The theme of this year’s summit is Mobile Money: A Catalyst to Sustainable Housing Finance.
