Kogi State House of Assembly has declared vacant the seat of the member representing Olamaboro state constituency, Linus Eneche.

The declaration followed a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by the Majority Leader, Hassan Bello Abdullahi, on the defection of Mr Linus Eneche from the APC to the PDP.

He maintained that after his investigation it was clear that the member had defected to the PDP, when he had won his election to the house on the platform of the APC.

Seconding the motion the member representing Ankpa one constituency Ahmed mohammed said APC was a united party as such Mr Eneche contravened section 109-1,subsection G of the 1999 constitution as amended, by defecting from the APC to the PDP.

In their contributions, Oluwatoyin lawal of Yagba West and Sunday Shigaba of Bassa state constituencies, both urged the house to wait for evidence from Mr Eneche of his defection nothing that the said member be allowed to defend himself.

The speaker in his ruling had earlier read a communication from the state APC secretariat requesting the assembly to declare the seat vacant.

He maintained that Mr Eneche’s name had also been published by INEC as the PDP house of assembly candidate for 2019 election.

He directed the clerk of the assembly to communicate INEC on the resolution of the house so that election could be conducted for the seat.

In the meantime the Kogi State House of Assembly has set up a six member committee, headed by the Majority Leader, Hassan Bello Abdullahi to look into a petition sent by the state government to the house on the state Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajana’s refusal to present his staff for the state pay parade exercise.

The petition was sent by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folashade Arike and read by the Speaker prince mathew kolawole on the floor of the house.

The speaker directed the committee to submit its report by Thursday, this week with a view to amicably resolving the matter.
