No fewer than 70 state and non state actors in Abuja Municipal Area Council have been equipped with basic knowledge on participating budgeting for enhanced transparency and accountability.
The capacity building was to promote open governance and ensure the budget impact on those at the grassroots in the territory
The participatory budgeting was organised by the Abuja Municipal Area Council and the BudgIT foundation aimed at ensuring that stakeholders from the council follow due process in budgeting to meet the needs of the residents of the area council.
In a remark, The chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council, Alhaji Adamu Candido said the training would strengthen the involvement of stakeholders in the council’s democratic governance.
Alhaji Candido therefore urged participants to take advantage of the training and understudy the critical areas of community needs that would further promote the administration’s transparency and accountability.
Also, the Program Manager BudgiT foundation, Mr Henry Omokhaye noted that the organisation would continue to create an enabling environment for effective implementation of budgetary.
Some of the participants said the training had broaden their knowledge and maintained that they would continue to promote transparency and accountability in the allocation of resources in their locality.
Participants were drawn from members of the legislative council of AMAC, community leaders and political office holders.
