Adamawa : Monarch Raises Alarm Over Killing Of 50yr Old Man

Background

A fresh wave of fear has engulfed Kiri community after the death of Malam Yakubu Kuri, a member of the Waja ethnic group who resides in Sabon Pegi, Kiri.

Community members described his death as part of ongoing violent attacks that have continued to threaten lives and property in the area.

Speaking on the incident, the district head of Shelleng town, and leader of all district heads in Shelleng Local Government, Malam Abdulrahman Isa Dason expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended condolences to the family of the deceased.

He described the killing as unfortunate and worrisome, noting that repeated attacks have created fear and uncertainty among residents, disrupting daily activities and peaceful coexistence.

The district head strongly advocated for immediate and decisive action by relevant authorities to restore calm in the affected communities.

He also called on the member representing Shelleng Constituency, the Chairman of Shelleng Local Government Council, the member representing Guyuk and Shelleng at the federal level, and the Senator representing Adamawa South to intensify efforts toward ending the violence.

“We cannot continue to lose innocent lives in this manner,” he said. “Government must act swiftly to secure our communities and protect our people.”

Malam Dason emphasized that prompt intervention is necessary to prevent further loss of lives and to maintain law and order.

He urged security agencies to strengthen surveillance and response mechanisms in Kiri and surrounding areas.

While praying for the repose of Malam Yakubu Kuri’s soul, the district head also appealed to residents to remain calm and law abiding as efforts are made to address the situation.

The community, he noted, remains hopeful that authorities will respond promptly to their cries and work towardd ensuring lasting peace, safety, and stability in Kiri and its environs.
