As Muslims and Christians begin the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in the Federal Capital Territory has extended greetings to all faithful across the country.
In a statement in Abuja, Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, said the periods of fasting, prayer and reflection are “powerful reminders of the enduring values of sacrifice, discipline, compassion and love for humanity.”
She urged adherents to use the holy season to pray for Nigeria, its leaders, and the continued peace and security of the Federal Capital Territory.
“Let this sacred season inspire us all to be ambassadors of peace, tolerance and mutual respect,” Ike said. She added that journalists remain committed to promoting “truth, fairness and responsible reportage that fosters harmony and understanding among our diverse people.”
On behalf of the NUJ FCT Council, Ike wished all Muslim and Christian faithful a spiritually rewarding Ramadan and Lenten season, calling for prayers and sacrifices that could “usher in renewed hope and greater prosperity for our nation.”
