Lord Mandelson has resigned from Labour, saying he wants to save the party “further embarrassment” over his links to Jeffrey Epstein
New documents, released on Friday in the US, suggest Epstein paid $75,000 to Lord Mandelson in three separate transactions in 2003 and 2004
Mandelson says he has no record of the payments to himself 20 years ago. He believes they are “false” but says they need “investigating by me”.
He adds: “I want to take this opportunity to repeat my apology to the women and girls whose voices should have been heard long before now”.
The latest documents also include pictures of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor – a lawyer for Epstein’s victims says the former prince should now testify in the US.
Epstein was sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2008 after pleading guilty to two charges, including soliciting girls as young as 14 for prostitution. He died in jail in 2019.
