The Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Doctor Muazu Omeiza Musa, has urged Students of the Federal University Lokoja to consider the significance of blood donation.
Doctor Muazu made the call during the inauguration of the Federal University Lokoja Blood Donors Club held at the E-learning Centre of the University.
Represented by the Desk Officer for Sector Wide Approach (SWAP), Doctor Emmanuel Bola Jonah, Doctor Muazu highlighted that blood donation is a straightforward yet impactful act that embodies science, solidarity, and social responsibility, with the potential to save millions of lives worldwide each year.
Doctor Muazu noted that despite advancements in medicine, many countries continue to experience critical shortages of blood supplies, underscoring the need for increased awareness, improved access, and a shift in societal attitudes.
He expressed satisfaction that blood donation has become safer, due to comprehensive screening, advanced testing technologies, and stringent ethical standards designed to ensure the safety of both donors and recipients.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, praised the Directorate of Welfare of the Student Union Government for their efforts in setting up the Blood Donors Club.

The Director of Welfare, Hassan Gimba Aminu, encouraged students to engage with the club and generously donate blood to help save lives.
