N1.3tr Whistle Blower Fraud: Maina Clears Air Calls For Transparency

The former Chairman, Pension Reform Task Team PRTT, Mr Abdularasheed Maina has called for transparency and accountability connected to his recovery of 1.3trillion and 227 properties evaluated at 88 billion in the Whistle Blower Policy under the late President Muhammadu Buhari’s led admistration in the interest of all Nigerians.

Maina, who made the call at a media briefing in Abuja, said the essence was in testimony of his age long endurance and to also assist the law that must be stronger than power in the interest of justice.

“In 2017 i was invited to meet with top Government officials in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates UAE, by Late president Muhammadu Buhari, former AGF Abubakar Malami, Babagana Monguno former NSA Boss, Ibrahim Magu former EFCC Chairman, Kemi Adeosun former finance minister among others.”

“They asked me to come back and help Nigeria recover stolen public funds because former president Goodluck Jonathan told them i recoverd 1.6trillion under his admistration and that can also be confirmed by Okonjo Iweala who was also present before we signed a ‘Whistle Blower Agreement”.

“Working under that agreement i helped to recover 1.3tr for Nigerian people and secured additional asset valued at 88 Billion and the terms were clear because i was entitled to 5% of the received 1.3tr been N65b as whistle blower fees and up to this day it has not been paid.”

“Instead i was asked to share it and because of public interest i refused and from that moment the prize of saying “NO” was paid not only by me but, my family members and i began to ask secret questions on the where about of the recovered looted funds and properties.”

‘Instead of answers to my questions i faced threats and my son of just 11-years in 2010 was eventually dragged into same allegation.How does a system that works accuse a child at that tender age of been a criminal because of what his father stands for.”

“2019 at the age 19 the car he was driving was hit with 57 bullets but, survived it and was later arrested detained and brutalized by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS a teenager and human being.”

“I am not asking for pity but, accountability, transparency for basic human decency. Where is the 1.3trillion and the 227 properties, who is responsible for them since the signed agreement was dishonored ”

“I welcome an independent review of the re-looted funds and properties with the backing of the authentic records at my disposal and ready to assist Nigeria lawfully, transparently because the country belongs to all of us.”

“I am using this medium to call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led administration to wade into the matter as a matter of urgency in the interest of justice inline with his Renewed Hope Agenda for all Nigerians; Maina added.

Earlier, the president Nigerian Bar Association NBA, Garki Branch, Mr Bamidele Ojo honoured the former Chairman, Pension Reform Task Team, Abdularasheed Maina for his immense contribution to the rule of law towards promoting an equitable Nigeria for all citizens.

“He has demonstrated and played exceptional roles in different capacities as a patriotic Nigerian. And in this light we thought it wise he deserves to be honoured with this award of excellence.”
