This is to give room for the selection of the best100 successful workers that will be trained to specialize in administrative know-how as well as digital – tech to enable them provide technical support aimed at enhancing efficiency in all FCTA Agencies, and for political appointees.

Part of the objectives among others is to establish a pool of officers available for strategic, service-wide assignments that involve providing technical support to political appointees heading critical project teams as well as to help them develop skills prevalent within the civil service.

The initiative is geared towards transforming, reforming, and promoting quality service delivery through the training of grade levels 10 -14 officers to become solution providers in the future for FCTA, in covering some loopholes being currently witnessed among civil servants.

In a keynote address, the Head of Civil Service, FCTA, Mrs Grace Adayilo urged participants to take the training seriously, adding that the measure is an indication that the Wike-led administration is determined to build capable leaders ready to take on the challenges of governing the nation’s capital.

Mrs Adayilo added that the program will hold annually to ensure that dedicated civil servants who are committed to their growth and professional development have a chance to benefit.

She explained that the Concept is one of the three Core Training Programmes established under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (CSSIP) from 2020 to 2025.

“This program marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to enhancing leadership capacities within the Federal Capital Territory Administration.”

“We aim to train a minimum of 100 officers every year, cultivating a new generation of leaders. I encourage you all to engage actively throughout this program by embracing the opportunities for learning, networking, and personal growth that lies ahead.” Adayilo said.

In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Common Services, Mr Babatunde Rotimi Ajayi thanked the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike for deeming it fit to build capacity of workers with the requisite civil service administrative know-how to become innovative, resilient, and solution providers.

“Each successful cohort of this program will be regarded as the Elite crop of civil servants, distinguished by the depth of knowledge and expertise they have acquired. It is our expectation that you will become ambassadors of excellence, driving positive change and fostering a result-oriented civil service.”

Contributing, the Director, FCTA Reform Coordination And Service Improvement, Dr Jummai Ahmadu said LEAD- P is strategically designed to attract, recruit, and nurture 100 selected staff for comprehensive training for the next 7 months.

According to Dr Ahmadu, “LEAD-P is regarded as a pivotal element for the future of public service, with its guidelines informed by the FCSSIP of 2025 and the policies governing Leadership Management and Succession Planning in the Civil Service.’

“The primary goal of FCT-LEAD-P is to cultivate the next generation of leadership within the Federal Capital Territory Administration via an enhanced capacity-building program, Ahmadu said.”

With round pegs in round holes, the FCTA through the LEAD-P hopes to raise a generation of civil servants that are competent, committed, proactive and ready to step- down knowledge garnered to upcoming leaders to achieve a progressive and sustainable development growth in civil service administration.
