The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has again clarified that the 1,000 staff who left the Apex bank in December did so voluntarily, with full benefits paid.
The CBN Governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso stated this during the resumed investigative hearing held by the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee probing the disengagement of the 1,000 workers and the N50 billion terminal benefits paid to them.
Represented by the Deputy Director Corporate Service, Mr Bala Bello, the CBN Governor, noted that their voluntary disengagement was, part of an efficiency-boosting Early Exit Program practiced globally.
Earlier, the chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee, Usman Kumo, assured that the committee would be fair to all parties involved in the investigation.
Kumo emphasized that the committee’s investigation was not intended to witch-hunt or apportion blame, but rather to gather facts and ensure that the CBN’s actions were in line with established laws and regulations.
