The House of Representatives Speaker, Dr Abbas Tajudeen, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting women empowerment and gender equality.
Speaking during a courtesy call by the National Council of Women Societies, NCWS at his office in Abuja, Dr Abbas emphasizes that the 10th House is determined to break the jinx of gender bills in the ongoing review of the 1999 Constitution.
In a Statement by his Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Karshi, the Speaker describes the visit as “another day of history” and acknowledges the NCWS’s efforts in promoting women’s rights.
He notes that the 10th House has created two standing committees focused on women’s affairs, demonstrating the parliament’s commitment to gender equality.
Dr. Abbas was decorated with a muffler by the Acting President of the NCWS, Mrs. Geraldine Ita Etuk, in recognition of his support for women empowerment.
The NCWS leader thanked the speaker for his pro-women actions and campaigns, calling for training and capacity-building programs for women.
The speaker urges the NCWS to continue engaging stakeholders to promote women’s empowerment and gender equality. With the 10th House’s renewed commitment, Nigeria may witness significant strides in promoting women’s rights and empowerment.
