Redouble Efforts In Fight For Gender Equality – Kogi NAWOJ

Women in Kogi state have been challenged to redouble efforts in the fight for gender equality.

Chairperson, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Kogi State, Mrs Stella Edoka gave the charge while addressing Secondary School students in comomeration of the International women’s day celebration in Lokoja.

She advised women to face challenges that hinder their growth by fighting for their basic rights to realise their God given potential.

Mrs Edoka urged Government and other relevant Stakeholders at all levels to prioritise women empowerment.

In a message, the State Council Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Mr Ibrahim Obansa appreciated women for the vital role they play in the society assuring that the Union would continue to do its best to promote the rights of women and girls.

Speaking on the importance of Girl Child Education, the Executive Director, Challenged Parenthood Initiative, Mrs Eunice Abimbola Agbogun, described girl child education as a catalyst for positive change and a means to create a brighter future for all.

Speaking on the theme, “Inspire Inclusion, a Journalist, Mrs Oluwakemi Jonah stated that Inclusion was important in building an equitable society, as it promotes understanding and collaboration among people of different backgrounds.

She advocated women inclusivity in various aspects of the society including leadership, education, politics, and employment to ensure adequate representation, breaking barriers of stereotypes and promoting traditional gender roles.
