Revenue Collection : FCT-IRS Launches e-Portal

The Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service has lauched an e- Portal towards simplifying, streamlining revenue collection and management in tax administration.

During the launch in Abuja, the Acting Executive Chairman FCT- IRS, Mr Haruna Abdullahi described the initiative as an innovation that will help taxpayers to acesss some FCT- IRS services from the comfort of their homes with ease.

The FCT- IRS boss who was represented by the Acting Director, Tax Department, Mrs Chinwe Ndu explained that the e-Portal is expected to promote ease of doing business, transparency, accountability towards enhancing efficient service delivery to the teeming taxpayers.

Mr Abdullahi added that the platform would help bridge the gap between tradition and modernity, propelled tax management into the digital age as well as reduce paperwork.

The e-Portal also seeks to harness the power of technology to enable both taxpayers and tax administrators interact in a transparent, efficient, and user-friendly manner.

“Gone are the days of cumbersome paperwork and long waiting times. Instead, we are welcoming a new era where taxpayers can navigate their obligations with ease and efficiency, all at the click of a button from the comfort of their homes or offices”.

According to him, “the FCT-IRS e-Portal is our collection, receipting, assessment, and TCC issuance platform with the embedding of every service of revenue management” Abdullahi said.

Unveiling the e-Portal, the Acting Director ICT, Mr James Olukotun said the platform is an evolution of processes, designed to promote seamless harmonization convenience, transparency, and accountability to boost efficiency in tax administration through continuous innovation.

He said the portal will take care of filing annual returns, issuance of TIN and TCC request among others.

In a goodwill message, one of the
Technical Partners, Mr Bosun Ayeni who identified the three key domains that are the pillars for revenue generation as accounting, law and technology, pledged support for the service to achieve its mission of being the best in Africa.

“I have been privileged from being a technical partner to get some insight around the vision of the service. I am aware that the service set out to be the best IRS in Africa from the service delivery perspective. I am aware that the service set out to be the best revenue “IRS per capital, IGR to GDP. I am aware that these are goals that the service set for itself and our vision is to help support these goals”.

He said supporting government to solve revenue challenges was key.

“At every level of government, government will say they have amongst many challenges, the challenge of revenue. There is no arm of government that has enough money to do what they want to do.So supporting Government solve that problem therefore, is a very important and critical assignment that those who commit themselves to this journey are helping to make life a little easier for all of us.So this is why we are committed to this journey”.
