FCTA Inaugurates Task Force For C of O Issuance

A Taskforce for the issuance of Certificate of Occupancy for Mass Housing in the Federal Capital Territory has been inaugurated.

On the occasion in Abuja, the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike advised members of the Taskforce to be diligent and professional to meet set objectives.

Wike stressed the need to ensure that all Owners of Mass Housing have Certificates of Occupancy, C of O.

He also ordered that property owners who were allocated land by Area Councils and wish to get Certificate of Occupancy from the FCT Administration should be given the opportunity to do so.

The Minister of the FCT who expressed displeasure at those who illegally convert their property from what it was initially approved to serve, urged the Taskforce to ensure that those property are recertified while penalties are meted out to the owners.

The Minister said that it was his desire that the Master plan of the FCT be strictly followed.

Chairman of the Committee and Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Land, Urban and Regional Planning, Mr Michael Chinda warned against the distortion of the city’s master plan.

He assured that his committee will carry out the assignment professionally.

The Taskforce has one month to complete its assignment.
