Governor Alia Emphasizes Collaboration and Growth

Benue State, Nigeria – Governor Fr. Hyacinth Alia warmly extends an invitation to international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), donors, and global investors, underscoring Benue’s commitment to partnership and collaborative ventures.

During the grand opening of the Sasakawa Africa Association’s office in Abuja, Governor Alia, represented at the event by Mr. Aondoaseer Leonard-Angelo Viashima, the Director General of International Cooperation and Development in Benue State, reaffirmed Benue State’s readiness to engage with willing investors and partners. He expressed the state’s enthusiasm for a multitude of business opportunities.

Governor Alia, while addressing the audience, emphasized his administration’s proactive approach to seeking collaborations, especially with the Sasakawa Africa Association, to enhance and diversify key sectors such as agriculture, food security, public health, the economy, environmental sustainability, and waste management. While acknowledging the value of foreign grants and assistance as supplementary resources, the governor emphasized that Benue State is committed to its independent development and views international partnerships as a means to expedite its growth and progress.

The event featured distinguished guests, including the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, HE. Matsunaga Kazauyoshi, and the Global President of Sasakawa Africa Association, Dr. Makoto Kitanak. The Japanese ambassador commended Sasakawa Africa Association for its impactful work in Nigeria and pledged continued Japanese support for their initiatives across the country.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Godwin Atser, the Country Director of Sasakawa Africa Association, highlighted the organization’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s economy, including job creation, advancements in agriculture, and bolstering food security. He called for sustained partnerships and collaborations between Sasakawa Africa Association and host communities, fostering positive growth and development.

Governor Alia of Benue State is firmly committed to the pursuit of sustainable development through collaboration with non-profits, INGOs, donors, and bilateral partners. He established the Benue State International Cooperation and Development (BICD), a dedicated coordinating unit aimed at facilitating seamless coordination, knowledge sharing, and strategic alignment in ongoing and future engagements. This initiative underscores the governor’s vision for a prosperous and cooperative future for Benue State.
