The Super Falcons of Nigeria, have qualified for the round of 16 in the FIFA women’s World Cup with an unbeaten run in their group stage as they played out a goalless draw in their final Group B game against Republic of Ireland.
The nine time African champions is the first African team to avoid a defeat in the group stage of the women’s World Cup.
It was an end to end encounter for the both side with Nigerian ladies controlling most of the game especially the second but struggled to find the back of the net with only 2 out their 11 attempts were on target.
The Falcons have kept multiple clean sheet for the first time in the women’s World Cup.

This is the third time the Super Falcons will progress from the group stage.
The first time they got out of the group stage was in 1999 when they got to the quarter-finals, before 2019 which saw them stop at the round of 16.
Africa’s top rank female will square of with the leaders of Group D in the round of 16, which are currently the European champions England, who have six points. CompleteSports
