The House of Representatives adhoc committee investigating gross mismanagement of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) by Ministries Departments and Agencies of government have directed the Chairman and 36 Federal Commissioners of the Federal Character Commission to appear before it tomorrow 26th July, 2023.
The Chairman of the committee, Mr Yusuf Gagdi gave the ruling, when the chairman of the commission, Dr Muiba Dankaka, failed to honour the invitation of the committee claiming medical reasons and sending 6 Federal Commissioners to represent her.
The Committee had initially taken Dr. Dankaka’s excuse and representation request on face value and allowed the investigation to continue, untill one of the federal commissioners in the commission Mr Moses Anaughe, stood up and informed the committee that the the Chairman is at that time in her office deliberately avoiding the committee’s invitation.
“I can tell you categorically that the Board Chairman is not indisposed, neither is she keeping any medical appointment as claimed. By the time I left the Commission’s office HQ around noon today she was at her desk” Anaughe said.
Subsequently, the committee chairman, Mr Gagdi put the federal commissioners under oath, warning them that henceforth lying under oath attracts two years imprisonment.
Gagdi also warned the commission’s chairman and the 36 federal commissioners to in their own interests honour the summons or face stiffer penalty.
