The House of Representatives is to summon the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL over the sudden increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Sprit, PMS in the Country.
This was sequel to the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Mr Ikenga Ugochinyere from Imo State at plenary.
In his lead debate, the lawmaker expressed concern over the sudden increment of PMS pump price from an average of 550 to 617 naira per litre, resulting in the increase in cost of transportation across the country.
Mr Chinyere observed that prices of foodstuffs and other items are also expected to increase as the price of PMS affects prices of everything in the country.

Ruling on the motion, the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu , who presided over plenary while describing the motion as apt said the House would put in place measures to alleviate the sufferings of the people.
The House thereafter resolved to set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate the issue as well as Invite the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN to ensure the interest of Nigerians are protected.
