The Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, has urged farmers in the council to take advantage of his administration’s policies on agriculture; in order to expand their farming activities.

This is contained in a statement by the senior special assistant on media and public affairs to the chairman, Mr Kingsley Madaki.

According to the statement, Maikalangu made the call during the distribution of farming inputs
to Takalafiya One and Two, Burum, Zaudna, Saburi, Kaba and Guidna communities.

It states that the items donated include: 50kg NPK fertilizers,
spraying machines, holes, shovels, rakes, wheel-barrows, cutlasses and grinding machines amongst others.

It stresses that the Chairman also called on farmers and village heads to put the
items into proper use.

According to the statement, the Chairman distributed the items himself to guard against middlemen hijacking them for their selfish interests.

The statement says that the Chairman expresses optimism that the bags of fertilizer and other farming inputs will greatly boost agriculture in AMAC.

It further directs the village heads to organise a local vigilante group to guard the community to be funded on a monthly basis by the Council.

It however adds that Maikalangu solicited support of residents for his administration to deliver the dividends of democracy to the residents.
