ECOWAS : Emergence Of PBAT As Chairman Will Promote Peace, Democracy

The Senate says
emergence of President Bola Tinubu as the new chairman, Economic Community of West Africa States, ( ECOWAS,) will promote peace and conflict resolution, democracy and good governance, and as well foster economic cooperation in the sub-region.

This was the opinion of the Deputy President of the senate, Jibrin Barau and 64 other Senators during plenary in Abuja.

The red chamber congratulated President Tinubu over the exalted position and noted that his emergence as the ECOWAS chairman “is a testimony of his commitment to good governance promised Nigerians.

Senator Barau said that by clinching the position on his first participation at such a high level meeting of ECOWAS barely two months after his inauguration as president, the sub-regional body has reposed great confidence in his leadership qualities and reaffirms Nigeria’s leadership role on the African continent generally and the sub-region in particular.

“As the ECOWAS chairman, President Bola Tinubu is in a strategic and vantage position to uphold the ECOWAS protocol, which is to promote peace and conflict resolution, democracy and good governance, strengthen collective response to security threats, and foster economic cooperation among ECOWAS member states.”
